The 20-second answer

NINJA fits when mobility and repeatable FTTx installation matter.

It is designed for standard telecom, drop and indoor fibres. It is not a substitute for a laboratory splicer or a core-alignment platform for the most demanding links.

A good fit

FTTH, LAN and METRO

  • subscriber and access-network installation,
  • SM, MM, DSF, NZD and G.657 fibres,
  • mobile work and restricted spaces,
  • drop and indoor cables supported by an 8 N drive.

Alignment method

Cladding alignment

NINJA aligns fibres by the cladding. For standard, compatible telecom fibres this delivers a fast, economical workflow. The published average SM splice loss is 0.05 dB.

When to choose a core-alignment model

When the performance margin matters more than weight

For links with tighter requirements, mixed fibres, or a published 0.01 dB average SM splice loss, see the FITEL S179+.

A simple field workflow

Open. Load. Splice. Protect.

A spacious chamber, automatic splice and heater start, and physical controls reduce the number of actions required for each joint.

Heating times depend on the sleeve and conditions. The first heating cycle after power-up may take longer.

Ergonomics you can see

A wide chamber and a detachable V-groove.

Compared with the earlier S123C, there is four times more room around the holders. Three LED lamps provide more than 300 lux, while the V-groove can be removed for cleaning.

More room for hands and fibre

Easier loading in a cabinet, distribution point or poor lighting.

The whole chamber illuminated

More than 300 lux; V-groove illumination six times brighter than on the S123C.

Simpler maintenance

Detachable V-groove, tool-less electrode replacement and mirror-free alignment.

Designed beyond the office

Dust, dripping water, drops and wind have published figures.

Furukawa describes the NJ001 ruggedised body with environmental test results, rather than a generic “rugged” label.

The brochure states the IP figures as equivalent ratings. Resistance does not make the instrument waterproof or indestructible.

Fibre compatibility

From standard SM to bend-insensitive fibre.

NJ001 handles common METRO, LAN and FTTx fibres, including G.657. The figures below are manufacturer-published averages, not a guaranteed result for every splice.

Frequently asked questions

FITEL NINJA NJ001 FAQ.

Does FITEL NINJA align fibres by the core?

No. NJ001 uses cladding alignment. FITEL S179+ is one option for more demanding core-alignment applications.

Which networks is FITEL NINJA intended for?

Primarily FTTx/FTTH, LAN and METRO installation using common telecom fibres, including G.657 bend-insensitive fibre.

How much does FITEL NINJA NJ001 weigh?

970 g with the S946 battery, one of its main advantages for mobile work.

What are the splice and heating times?

Splice time is 13 s. Furukawa states 17 s for a 40 mm sleeve and 20 s for a 60 mm sleeve in pre-heat mode; actual time depends on sleeve and conditions.

How many cycles can it perform on the battery?

Typically 100 splice and heat cycles on a fully charged S946 battery at 20°C in semi-auto splice mode and regular heating. Actual results depend on battery condition and environment.

Does NINJA support G.657 fibre?

Yes. The official specification includes BIF/UBIF fibre compliant with ITU-T G.657.

Why is the detachable V-groove useful?

It makes chamber cleaning and maintenance easier without extensive disassembly. NJ001 also supports tool-less electrode replacement.

What is included with FITEL NINJA?

The current Interlab kit includes a FITEL NINJA NJ001 fusion splicer, a FITEL S327 automatic cleaver, a carrying bag and installer tools. The exact range of accessories and holders is confirmed in the quotation.
