The 20-second answer
It is designed for standard telecom, drop and indoor fibres. It is not a substitute for a laboratory splicer or a core-alignment platform for the most demanding links.

Alignment method
NINJA aligns fibres by the cladding. For standard, compatible telecom fibres this delivers a fast, economical workflow. The published average SM splice loss is 0.05 dB.

Designed beyond the office
Furukawa describes the NJ001 ruggedised body with environmental test results, rather than a generic “rugged” label.
The brochure states the IP figures as equivalent ratings. Resistance does not make the instrument waterproof or indestructible.
Fibre compatibility
NJ001 handles common METRO, LAN and FTTx fibres, including G.657. The figures below are manufacturer-published averages, not a guaranteed result for every splice.
