Benefits of the Yokogawa AQ1000 OTDR

The combination of the many functions offered by the Yokogawa AQ1000 optical reflectometer makes it a convenient tool for all kinds of measurement work. The technology it uses means that the operations performed with it require minimal user activity – just a single button. It is the algorithm that detects, collects and analyses the data and generates the record – making operation simple and intuitive, which favours the use of these models for field work.

Yokogawa AQ1000 OTDR – an intuitive and responsive interface

Tap, scroll, pinch or press. Thanks to the intuitive interface and multi-touch screen, operation is similar to that of modern mobile devices such as phones or tablets. The high-resolution touchscreen combined with physical buttons allows simple, convenient and intuitive operation.
One-button measurements
Thanks to the algorithm that automatically configures the measurement parameters, a measurement can be taken at the press of just one button. The Yokogawa AQ1000 optical reflectometer automatically performs full characterisation of the fiber, detecting and analysing events along the link. The AQ1000 can also perform pass/fail analysis according to predefined and editable criteria. The measurement result can also be saved automatically.
Two display modes for every measurement
The AQ1000 offers two view types for every measurement taken

OTDR trace
A traditional OTDR trace with event markers
Network map
At the press of just one button, every measurement can be displayed as a network map, with an icon-based interpretation of the events.
Instant start-up, fast measurements and long battery life
Thanks to the dedicated real-time operating system known from Yokogawa’s higher-end OTDRs, full device start-up takes just 10 seconds. Measurements are taken very quickly, and the built-in battery provides power for 10 hours of operation (in line with the Telcordia standard requirements)

Main measurement functions:

Built-in power meter, light source and visual fault locator.
Every AQ1000 OTDR comes as standard with a power meter and a stabilised 1310/1550 nm light source. A visual fault locator option (650 nm light source) is available optionally.
Power meter
Power-meter function over a -5 to -50 dBm range. It allows checking the power level on the network, or measuring loss using an external light source.
Stabilised light source
Allows generating a continuous wave or a modulated wave (e.g. for use when locating fibers with a transmission identifier). When used with an external power meter, it enables measurement of total loss using the transmission method.
Visual fault locator (VFL) – optional function
A 650 nm red light source, enabling visual location of e.g. fiber bends in distribution frames/splice closures/outlets.
Saving measurements and reporting
A measurement can be saved by pressing the save icon on the screen. Measurements can be saved in .SOR format or directly to PDF.
The AQ1000 features built-in software for generating advanced measurement reports in PDF format. The report layout can be configured from the device.
Data transfer
Data such as .SOR or PDF files can be transferred from the device via the USB port.
