BIOPAC · Data Acquisition System

The MP200 is a modular physiological data acquisition system and the natural starting point for many research projects.

You don't have to decide on the final configuration right away — you can start with a single signal and expand the setup over time as the scope of your research grows. It's one shared hub for wired and wireless signals: EEG, ECG, EMG, EDA, or respiration all flow into the same AcqKnowledge environment, synchronized in time. 16 channels, sampling up to 100 kHz per channel, and more than 40 application domains — from psychophysiology to neuromarketing — approved for both human and animal research.

The research ecosystem around MP200

The MP200 is a hub within a larger ecosystem for human behavior research. It records physiological signals and connects them — via hardware or software — with technologies across many research areas.

MP200 system
EEGElectroencephalography — multi-channel APEX caps for cognitive and neuroscience research.
Eye-trackingEye movement tracking (fixations, saccades, pupil) — glasses and screen-based trackers, synchronized in AcqKnowledge.
Facial CodingAutomated facial expression and emotion analysis (FaceReader) based on facial action units.
Stimulus PresentationPresentation of stimuli (image, sound, video) with time markers synchronized to the signal.
BiometricsBiometric and physiological signals: ECG, EDA/GSR, EMG, respiration, blood pressure — wired or via BioNomadix.
ImagingMRI-compatible equipment — non-magnetic amplifiers and sensors, signal gating.
fMRISynchronization of physiological recording with the fMRI scanner protocol (trigger and gating).
fNIRSMeasurement of cortical oxygenation using fNIRS (ebox / MedelOpt unit).
VRIntegration of VR headsets (HTC Vive, Meta Quest) with eye-tracking and physiological measurement.
Video & SyncVideo (up to 8 cameras) and event/response signals synchronized with physiological data.
BSL — EducationBIOPAC Student Lab (MP36/MP45) — ready-made exercises for teaching physiology.

Some technologies connect directly into the MP200, some integrate at the software level in AcqKnowledge, and some are related but separate systems (fMRI, fNIRS, VR, the educational Biopac Student Lab). Selected areas will get their own dedicated product pages.

Key features

16 analog channels

16 analog inputs, 2 outputs, 16 digital I/O (via the STP100D/STP100D-C or STP-IO interface), plus an external trigger input.

Up to 100 kHz per channel

Flexible sampling (up to 1600 kHz aggregated) — different channels can run at different rates simultaneously.

Network-ready

The standard communication interface is Ethernet (UDP); a USB-Ethernet adapter (ETHUSB) is included for connecting to a computer.

Native BioNomadix support

Up to 16 BioNomadix data channels on a single MP200 system — wireless and wired integration in one AcqKnowledge environment.

How it works

01

You collect signals from multiple sources

Wired physiological modules, wireless BioNomadix, and integrated systems — VR, fNIRS, and eye-tracking — all feed into one system.

02

MP200 merges them in real time

Channels with different sampling rates land on one shared, synchronized timeline — with no manual alignment required.

03

You analyze in AcqKnowledge

One recording of all modalities: acquisition, automated analysis, and export of ready-to-use research data.

Dedicated AcqKnowledge software

The MP200 runs on AcqKnowledge — BIOPAC's proprietary software for recording, visualizing, and automatically analyzing signals. Available as a perpetual license (one-time purchase, no subscription); 2 licenses are included with the MP200. Windows and macOS.
