NorthLab ProCoater – Fiber Recoater (Re-application of Coating)

NorthLab ProCoater is an ultra-compact fiber recoater — a device for re-applying the protective coating to a fiber after splicing, stripping or other processing. It is adapted to a wide range of fiber diameters and resin types, with a focus on ease of use and flexibility — proving itself in both production and R&D.

The ProCoater works with square molds, plastic or silicone, selected to match the resin type: plastic molds for high-index resins are available in sizes 250, 400, 500, 600 and 900 µm, while silicone molds for low-index resins come in sizes 250, 400, 550, 650 and 750 µm (custom sizes available on request).

For very short cycles, an array of powerful UV LED (365 nm) diodes is used, giving a typical curing time of under 3 seconds. The device lets you program four recoating programs selectable from the touch panel (settings are also accessible from a PC application). Powered from a built-in battery or a mains adapter, and its lightweight (0.8 kg), ultra-compact design enables mobile work and use in tight spaces.

Note: the ProCoater is supplied without molds — molds are selected separately depending on the resin type and coating diameter.
