Ether10.DuaLoop is a portable device that loops back traffic on interfaces up to 10 Gbit/s throughput. The device features dual electrical/optical ports that can operate independently in L1-L4 loopback mode. It loops back Ethernet/IP packets, enabling performance tests such as RFC2544 and eSAM (Y.1564). The optical interfaces of the device are provided through SFP+ adapters.
The Ether10.DuaLoop from ALBEDO Telecom (Barcelona) is a battery-powered loopback device for Ethernet/IP networks with throughput up to 10 Gb/s. It loops back test traffic at layers L1-L4 on two independent optical/electrical ports, so full bidirectional RFC 2544 and eSAM (Y.1564) tests can be performed with a single tester and a single measurement team — without sending a second crew to the far end of the link.

Unlike simple hardware loopbacks, the Ether10.DuaLoop loops traffic back selectively: filters allow only the frames of a specific service to be returned (e.g. a single VLAN or UDP stream), while control mechanisms exclude broadcast traffic and ICMP from the loop, protecting the production network against a packet storm. At layers L2-L4 the device swaps source and destination addresses, so the returned traffic correctly travels back through the routed network. In parallel, DuaLoop collects full frame and bandwidth statistics per port, direction and filter — from FCS counters to frame length distribution — and identifies the 25 most active MAC/IPv4/IPv6 addresses (top talkers).
