AFL FlowScout™ OLS8

The AFL FlowScout OLS8 optical light source represents the next generation of intelligent optical light sources. Built on the legacy of AFL/Noyes OLS series optical light sources, the FlowScout OLS8 provides a stable and accurate light source for use in enterprise LANs, data centers, PON and broadband networks.

Intuitive operation: Thanks to an easy-to-use color touchscreen interface, fiber technicians can quickly set up, test, verify and document an installed fiber installation, as well as troubleshoot when needed.

Wave ID to reduce test time and errors: In Wave ID mode, the OLS8 encodes each wavelength with a unique Wave ID code. Combined with a Wave ID-capable power meter such as the OPM8, the pair can test up to three wavelengths simultaneously, reducing test time and eliminating wavelength setting errors. The light source also offers a CW mode (continuous output – no encoding) and supports test tone generation (270 Hz, 330 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz) to assist with troubleshooting.

Flexible reporting: Combined with the AFL FlowScout OPM8 power meter, test results can be transferred over Bluetooth to an iOS or Android mobile device with AFL’s free FlexApp software. FlexApp can automatically upload results to AFL’s FlexReporter™ cloud for later analysis, editing and report generation with FlexReports PC software.
