AFL FlowScout™ OPM8

Description and Specification

The FlowScout OPM8 optical power meter represents the next generation of intelligent optical power meters. Designed on the AFL/Noyes OPM heritage, the FlowScout OPM8 delivers fast loss testing with pass/fail results for use in enterprise LANs, data centers, PON and broadband networks.

Intuitive operation: Thanks to an easy-to-use color touchscreen interface, fiber technicians can quickly set up, test, verify and document an installed fiber plant, as well as provide power measurements. The FlowScout OPM8 measures power levels and automatically evaluates them against user-set min/max limits. The large color touchscreen displays the detected power levels with color-coded pass/fail indications.

Wave ID shortens test time and reduces errors: When used with a Wave ID light source such as the FlowScout OLS8, the power meter automatically synchronizes with the source wavelength, shortening test time and eliminating wavelength setting errors. The broadband power meter automatically detects and reports the presence of 270 Hz, 330 Hz, 1 kHz and 2 kHz fiber identifying tones.

Multiple sharing and reporting options: Measured power levels, pass/fail limits and status can be stored in internal memory for retrieval over USB or Bluetooth. Using AFL’s free FlexApp application on iOS or Android mobile devices, test results can be wirelessly transferred to AFL’s FlexReporter™ cloud for later analysis, editing and report generation using FlexReports software on a PC. FlexApp users can also share uploaded results.
