AFL WFW FiberWipes / FA1 FiberAide – Cleaning Wipes

AFL FiberWipes are optical wipes designed to lift and trap common contamination found in fiber optic installations. The material is stronger, more absorbent and yet gentler than traditional cellulose wipes. Packaged in a clean room, fully fiber optic grade. Available in rugged mini-tubes (WFW, 90 pcs) and hermetically sealed individual packs (FA1 FiberAide).

  • Lint-free, fully fiber optic grade
  • Strong and tear-resistant, yet gentle
  • WFW: mini-tube of 90 wipes – for lab and field
  • FA1: hermetically packaged wipes, with a skin-protecting film
  • For both dry and wet cleaning (with FCC2 fluid or FCC3 pen)
  • For cleaning ferrule end-faces, fibers before fusion splicing, lenses and mirrors

AFL FiberWipes are designed specifically to lift and trap common contamination found in fiber optic installations. They deliver better cleaning results than traditional cellulose wipes – the material is stronger, more absorbent and at the same time gentler. Packaged in a clean room, fully fiber optic grade. Available in two convenient formats, ideal for tool and test kits.

WFW FiberWipes – mini-tube of 90 wipes

The small package size is ideal for laboratory and field work. The rugged mini-tube of 90 wipes keeps them clean and dry before use, and the hexagonal cap limits the tube from rolling away when dropped. The wipes are solvent-resistant – they can be moistened for wet and dry cleaning. Instructions for use are printed on the side of the tube.

FA1 FiberAide – hermetic wipes

The hermetically sealed wipes remain uncontaminated and ready for use. The film on the underside protects the skin from solvents and cable gel, and the packaging contains no adhesives that could migrate. A mounting hole allows placement on a panel or keychain. This is an ideal solution for shipping with OEM equipment, preventing contamination of fiber surfaces during installation. The wipes are solvent-resistant (wet/dry cleaning), and each pack features pictorial instructions.

Application: AFL FiberWipes (WFW) optical wipes are lint-free, non-fraying swabs for cleaning fiber optic connector end-faces and bare fiber before fusion splicing. Combined with the FiberAide (FA1) fluid dispenser, they enable wet-to-dry cleaning that removes both grease and fingerprints as well as dust. They are suitable for cleaning connector ferrules, MPO/MTP end-faces and preparing fiber after buffer removal.

Benefits: The high-purity material leaves no lint or residue behind, so it does not introduce new contamination onto the optical surface. Cleaning before measurement and fusion splicing is the simplest way to reduce attenuation, reflections and measurement errors. The FiberAide dispenser provides a controlled amount of fluid and convenience for field work. FiberWipes and FiberAide are consumables that complement AFL cleaning kits, performing well in FTTH networks, data centers and laboratories.

Applications and benefits

The wipes are suitable for cleaning fibers before termination or fusion splicing, connector ferrule end-faces, as well as lenses, mirrors and other optical surfaces. They perform well in wet cleaning combined with AFL FCC2 fluid or the FCC3 cleaning pen. Regular cleaning reduces network failures, extends connector life and lowers service costs.
