Mirrors

Our offer includes mirrors with various coatings and in many sizes. Mirrors intended for the optical laboratory are, during the manufacturing process of the glass surface,  coated with metal or dielectric by vacuum deposition.
Comparison of the reflectance of mirror coatings:

Broadband metallic mirrors

Optosigma offers a wide  range of high-performance mirrors with metallized coatings: aluminum, gold and silver mirrors. Metallized mirrors are ideal for broadband applications such as spectroscopy and are useful in the UV, visible and NIR ranges across various industries. Dielectric coating layers are placed on the metallic surface to protect the surfaces and improve reflectance. Metallic mirrors are generally cheaper compared to their dielectric counterparts, and are also more susceptible to polarization.

Dielectric mirrors

They are also called Bragg mirrors. These mirrors consist of many dielectric layers of coating materials, which are usually deposited on glass surfaces. OptoSigma offers a wide range of dielectric mirrors that are suitable for high-power lasers and broadband light sources in various applications, such as: ultra-broadband dielectric mirrors, laser mirrors, high-power mirrors, broadband dielectric mirrors.

Femtosecond laser mirrors

These mirrors have a very low or negative GDD characteristic. Optosigma offers three types of mirrors: standard, broadband and high-power, all in various sizes. All of them use dielectric coatings on high-precision glass substrates.

High-flatness flat mirrors

These are mirrors with high surface flatness. Optosigma guarantees that after coating it will be about Lambda/10 P-V. The mirrors were specially designed specifically for ND Yag lasers from the original 1064 nm and higher frequencies down to 248 nm. All optical coatings are dielectric with a reflectance of up to R>99.5%.

"Super" mirrors

This is a group of mirrors with very high reflectance. These mirrors are ideal for Fabry-Perot resonator cavities, where high finesse and narrow spectral bands are required. We use highly specialized polishing techniques that enable low scatter based on a surface roughness of Ra<0.1 nm, and we also use Ion-Beam Sputtering (IBS) optical coating processes.

Curved mirrors

Our offer includes a variety of spherical concave mirrors. Mirrors of this type reflect light rays from the inside toward a central point. Objects outside the center of curvature will form a real inverted image located between the focal point and the center of curvature. Parabolic mirrors transform divergent light from a point source into parallel rays. We offer: ellipsoidal, paraboloidal, and aluminum concave mirror substrates without or with a protective coating.

Lenses

An optical filter is an optical element used to transmit or reflect a specific range of wavelengths or a specific portion of the incident light. It can be identified as a color. Light transmission is considered absorbed or cut off. They are also used as light absorbers, applied to transmit long wavelengths (longpass), only short wavelengths (shortpass) or a band of wavelengths, blocking both longer and shorter waves (bandpass). We offer various types of filters depending on the light source you have or the application. The selection of filters is large because their characteristics are very diverse. Choosing the right filter characteristic can help increase the efficiency of experiments.

Neutral density filters

These filters are used to reduce light intensity by a specific value. The way this can be achieved may be based on absorption or reflection. An absorptive filter reduces stray light by absorbing unwanted light, but performance can change with variations in temperature and thickness. They are best suited for low-power systems. A reflective neutral density filter reflects the unwanted intensity, which must be taken into account in the optical design of the system. Our offer includes variable neutral density filters, which have a neutral density (optical density) that changes as a function of angle or as a function of distance. A rotationally variable neutral density filter is useful in a rotary mount to change the neutral density value as a function of the rotation angle.

Colored glass filters

OptoSigma’s wide selection of colored glass filters offers high transmission, high out-of-band blocking, no inherent polarization effects and can be enhanced with optical coatings such as AR or thin-film filters to achieve the required performance. Colored glass filters are used in many applications, such as sensor systems or other applications requiring wavelength blocking, color enhancement, heat blocking or color temperature conversion.

Dielectric spectral filters

Dielectric spectral filters are thin-film filters that provide higher spectral performance than colored glass filters. These filters are typically used in applications such as spectroscopy, microscopy or where heat needs to be blocked or transmitted, or where illumination spectra need to be cleaned up.

Diffusers

Optical diffusers are a special type of filter used to scatter light into a more uniform Lambertian distribution, or a beam-shaping diffuser that can scatter in one direction but not in the orthogonal direction. A basic diffuser is made of ground glass to scatter light in all directions for illumination. A Beam Shaping diffuser is a high-transmission diffuser and can achieve wide-angle diffusion in one direction. Beam-shaping diffusers are used in light panels and some laser marking systems to achieve a more uniform beam along the preferred axis.

Etalon

An etalon consists of two parallel mirrors with high reflectance and is used as a narrowband filter. Widely used in astronomical observations and interferometric measurements.

Prisms

Beam splitters

A beam splitter is an optical element used to split an incident light beam in two directions. Beam splitters are used to split light based on the power ratio between the transmitted and reflected beams, but can also be used to split polarization states or different wavelengths of light. There are two main types of beam splitters, the “plate beamsplitter” and the “cube beamsplitter”, and each has its own advantages. OptoSigma offers a wide selection of plate and cube beam splitters that meet virtually every application. Some examples include thin-plate beam splitters, dielectric plate and cube beam splitters, high-power polarizing beam splitters, broadband polarizing beam splitters, plate polarizing beam splitters and variable beam splitters.

Plate Beamsplitter

“Plate Beamsplitters” are optical elements used to split incident light in a specified ratio into two separate beams. Additionally, beam splitters can be used in reverse to combine two different beams into one. Beam splitters are often classified by their construction: cube or plate.

Cube Beamsplitter

This is an optical device that splits a light beam into two parts. It is a key component of many optical experimental and measurement systems, such as interferometers. In its most common form, the cube consists of two triangular glass prisms that are bonded or in contact with each other at their base. In a polarizing beam splitter, the transmitted beam and the redirected beam will have orthogonal polarizations. If polarized light is introduced, the relative amount of transmitted/reflected power will depend on the input polarization.
