AFL FCC3 Debris Destroyer® – Connector Cleaning Pen

The AFL FCC3 Debris Destroyer® is a cleaning pen for fiber connectors and bare fiber. It allows the controlled application of cleaning fluid onto cassette cleaners and wipes. It works with many AFL products — CLETOP-S, OPTIPOP-R, FiberWipe™ and CleanWipe™ — and also lets you moisten the tip of a One-Click cleaner, turning it into a wet-cleaning solution for stubborn connector end-face contamination.

Application: The AFL FCC3 Debris Destroyer is a cleaning pen with a precision tip, used to apply cleaning agent onto fiber connector end-faces and onto bare fiber before splicing. The pen is also perfectly suited for wetting cassette cleaners such as CLETOP-S, enabling effective “wet-to-dry” cleaning. Controlled dispensing prevents excessive fluid use and flooding of the connector.

Advantages: A clean fiber end-face is a prerequisite for low-loss splices and mated connections — contamination at the splice point increases attenuation and weakens the joint mechanically. The compact, pocket-sized form of the pen is ideal for the field and the workshop, while precise application reduces the risk of ferrule damage. The FCC3 complements AFL cleaning kits and is recommended as part of the standard connector-preparation procedure before OTDR measurement or service activation.

Best practice: Connector and fiber cleaning should be performed at every disconnection and reconnection, as well as routinely before OTDR measurement, insertion-loss measurement (OLTS) and microscope inspection. The FCC3 pen works with the entire AFL cleaning-materials family — CCT tips, CLETOP swabs and FiberWipes — creating a consistent, repeatable cleaning process in the field and the workshop. As a result, service crews reduce the number of repeat visits and maintain high connection quality in FTTH networks, data centers and LAN installations.
