Albedo ETHER10.GENIUS

Ether10.Genius is a portable IP/Ethernet/PTP/T1/E1 measurement instrument. Thanks to battery power (up to 24 hours of operation on batteries), a lightweight (1.2 kg) and rugged design, the tester is ideally suited for both field and laboratory work. The device enables Ethernet/IP network measurements up to 10 Gb/s, additionally supporting Sync-E/PTP master/slave emulation. The device further features PDH/T1/E1/E0 and IEEE C37.94 interfaces. The device operating modes enable measurement of network quality and performance parameters. Additionally, the tester offers PTP/SyncE emulation and analysis, Freq./Phase measurement, PDV metrics, TIE/MTIE/TDEV and TE analysis/generation. The built-in Rubidium clock delivers accuracy at the nsec level.

Ether10.Genius is a portable, multi-technology Ethernet/IP network tester with throughput up to 10 Gb/s, manufactured by ALBEDO Telecom of Barcelona. In a single 1.2 kg enclosure it combines quality and performance testing of 10GbE/GbE links with full emulation and analysis of SyncE and PTP (IEEE 1588) synchronization, as well as E1/T1, Datacom and IEEE C37.94 interfaces. The optional built-in GPS-disciplined rubidium clock provides a time reference accurate to the level of single nanoseconds — also in the field, without an external reference.

Nanosecond-accuracy synchronization

A distinguishing feature of the Ether10.Genius is a laboratory-class synchronization measurement path in a portable device. The built-in GNSS receiver (GPS/GLONASS) disciplines the rubidium clock, which allows measuring time error (TE) and its constant and dynamic components (cTE/dTE) directly on site, and in hold-over mode maintaining ±100 ns accuracy for 2 hours after loss of the GPS signal. The tester generates and analyzes wander (TIE/MTIE/TDEV) according to ITU-T masks for SyncE and PTP, supports 2048/1544 kHz, 10 MHz and 1 pps reference inputs/outputs, and a clock monitor mode. This is the full set of functions needed for synchronization acceptance of LTE/TDD base stations and power systems.
