AFL MFIS is a multifiber identification system for verifying the continuity of multiple fibers at once.
AFL MFIS (Multi-Fiber Identification System) is a system that delivers 100% continuity confidence in multifiber networks. It lets you verify network build correctness quickly, correctly and efficiently, eliminating costly labeling and fiber cross-connection errors. A single technician can verify up to 12 fibers at once.
Building multifiber networks is time-consuming and complex, and it is often carried out by different crews with inconsistent documentation — labeling and fiber cross-connection errors are almost unavoidable. AFL MFIS (Multi-Fiber Identification System) is an easy-to-use system that delivers 100% continuity confidence for a multifiber network. Thanks to built-in digital encoding (Fiber ID), it serves both during and after network build, giving operators confidence in documentation accuracy. The system consists of three lightweight, rugged, one-hand-operated tools.
The MFT is a twelve-fiber 1550 nm source built around 12 separate single-mode lasers connected to an MTP fan-out connector. With a single button it sends light into the network with a built-in Fiber ID signal, which is then read by the MFI or MFP for automatic fiber identification. Output power +1.75 dBm ±1 dB, operating time 40–50 h from 2 AA batteries.
The MFI detects the presence of digitally encoded light in the fiber under test. The device is activated by inserting the fiber into the clamp and pulling the trigger — the fiber identification number appears on the LCD display. InGaAs detector, typical sensitivity -35 dBm, insertion loss 2.5–3.0 dB; works on 250 µm fiber (SMF-28).
The MFP detects digitally encoded light emitted by the MFT in Fiber ID mode, while at the same time acting as a standard optical power meter. Calibrated wavelengths: 850, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550 and 1625 nm; range +10 to -75 dBm, accuracy ±0.25 dB. Operating time up to 300 h from 2 AA batteries.
