Our ultra-low-loss switches have been deployed in a wide range of applications, including long-term environmental testing, data transmission redundancy and cable assembly test setups. These switches are built on proven, reliable optomechanical technology that has been in use for over 30 years. Each engine is rated for more than 88 billion cycles.
The OSX optical switch, OSX-100, can be configured for bench/rack mounting, ideal for applications requiring high production test throughput. Available in single-mode or multimode, the number of channels ranges from 1×2 to 1×400. Additional common inputs are possible by adding a 1xN or 2B or 2C configuration. Many other path routing configurations are available on request. The switch can be controlled via USB or Ethernet; front-panel bulkheads are fitted with FC, SC or LC connectors.
The OSX-100E is a ready-to-use fiber optic switch component that can be easily integrated into virtually any fiber routing or application. It is readily available in common fiber types (standard single-mode, 50 um or 62.5 um multimode); however, it can also be ordered with special fiber types (step index, large-core multimode, small-core single-mode). The switches can be configured for 1×2 to 1×80 channels and are also available in 2B or 2C configurations (see configuration options). For more complex signal routing and switching, the low loss (< 0.5 dB) allows switches to be cascaded to enable a greater number of channels. To simplify integration, each switch is supplied with a pre-programmed control board and uses the standard I2C communication protocol for control. The control board, which can be mounted separately or with the optical switch, provides great flexibility.
