A reflectometer (POF OTDR) for plastic optical fibers. Available wavelengths are 650nm or 850nm for cores from 100um to 1000um in diameter.
SCIENTEX POF2100 OTDR
Transmission losses in POF are relatively high; another problem is the attenuation of the returning pulse, which significantly complicates measurement. The SCIENTEX OTDR solves this problem by using a high-sensitivity photon counting mode.
The SCIENTEX OTDR has a wide range of applications:
– checking the plastic material the POF fiber is made of
– checking a fiber-optic system in the home (anti-burglary systems, home network, air conditioning, solar collectors)
– testing fiber-optic connections in cars and airplanes
