LIGHTEL Fiber Optic Couplers / Splitters

LIGHTEL passive fiber optic couplers and splitters in FBT and PLC technology — single-, dual- and triple-window, single/multimode, PM versions, arbitrary power splitting ratios and connectorization. Compliant with Telcordia GR-1209/1222.

LIGHTEL fiber optic couplers & splitters are passive components for splitting and combining optical signals. Manufactured in FBT (Fused Biconic Taper) and PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) technology, available in single- and multimode versions, as single-window, dual-window and triple-window devices, across the full wavelength range — from the visible band up to 2 µm.

LIGHTEL has been manufacturing fiber optic couplers and splitters since 2000. Every device is tested before shipment on calibrated equipment and complies with the Telcordia GR-1209 / GR-1222 standards. PM (polarization-maintaining) configurations, custom power splitting ratios and any connectorization (LC, SC, FC, MPO) are available.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an FBT coupler and a PLC splitter?
FBT (fused) couplers perform well at selected wavelengths and for asymmetric splits (Tap), as well as in PM and multimode versions. PLC splitters provide an even split across many ports over the wide 1260–1650 nm band and are preferred in PON networks.

Are polarization-maintaining (PM) versions available?
Yes — we offer PM couplers, including for 2 µm, for interferometric and sensing systems.

What connectors and packaging are available?
Any connectorization (LC, SC, FC, MPO) or unconnectorized pigtails; housings: discrete devices, cassettes, LGX modules, trays and rack units.
