A suite of benchtop measurement instruments from Luna (a product line originally developed under the General Photonics brand) for characterizing the polarization properties of light and fiber-optic components. Four complementary meters cover the most common tasks in the photonics laboratory and on the production line: measurement of the degree of polarization (DOP), polarization extinction ratio (PER), polarization-dependent loss (PDL) and full real-time analysis of the state of polarization (SOP). The DOP-201 and PDL-201 instruments use a patented maximum–minimum search method, providing high accuracy for both low and high DOP/PDL values — calibration-free across the wide 1260–1620 nm range.

Common platform for measurement automation

All instruments in the series are designed for operation both at the laboratory bench and in automated production stations: clear OLED displays, analog outputs proportional to the measured quantity, and communication interfaces for remote control. The short single-measurement time (30 ms in the DOP-201 and PDL-201) enables 100 % inspection of products in volume production, while the POD-201 polarimeter with sampling up to 4 MS/s also captures fast, transient polarization changes.
