TP-01 Temperature Sensor

Sylex’s (Bratislava) TP-01 is a miniature fiber-optic temperature sensor based on a Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG), enclosed in a stainless steel probe just 5 mm in diameter. As a fully optical sensor, it is immune to electromagnetic interference and requires no power at the point of measurement, and each unit is individually calibrated by the manufacturer. It is a standard component of structural health monitoring (SHM) systems — especially as a thermal reference for strain sensors.

Why temperature compensation matters

A Bragg grating responds simultaneously to strain and to temperature — without thermal correction, a structural stress measurement would carry an error reaching tens of µε per degree of temperature change. The TP-01 is mounted next to the strain sensor in such a way that it measures only the substrate temperature; the interrogator uses its reading to determine the pure mechanical component. The miniature probe and flexible cable also allow the sensor to be placed in hard-to-reach locations, and the individual calibration certificate supplied with each unit simplifies the configuration of the measurement system.
