The AFL FlowScout OPM8 + OLS8 OLTS kit combines an optical power meter and a light source in a single set for insertion loss measurement.

AFL FlowScout Optical Loss Test Kits are smart insertion loss measurement sets that pair the OPM8 optical power meter with the OLS8 light source. They deliver fast pass/fail testing across LANs, data centers, PON, and broadband networks — with Wave ID and a 5-year warranty.

AFL FlowScout Optical Loss Test Kits comprise the OPM8 optical power meter and the OLS8 light source. These smart, next-generation instruments build on the long-standing heritage of the AFL/Noyes OPM and OLS series. The complete kits deliver fast insertion loss measurement with a pass/fail result across enterprise LANs, data centers, PON, and broadband networks.

Intuitive operation

A simple interface based on a color touchscreen lets technicians quickly set up, test, verify, and document an installed fiber link, as well as perform power measurements. The OPM8 meter measures power levels and automatically evaluates them against user-defined min/max limits, presenting the result on a large color screen with color-coded pass/fail indication.

Wave ID — shorter test time and fewer errors

In Wave ID mode, the OLS8 source encodes each wavelength with a unique identifier. Paired with a Wave ID–capable OPM8 meter, the kit can test up to three wavelengths simultaneously, shortening measurement time and eliminating setup errors. The source also offers a CW (continuous) mode and test tone generation (270 Hz, 330 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz) to aid troubleshooting.

Full reporting capabilities

Measured power levels, pass/fail limits, and status are stored in internal memory and retrieved via USB. Results can be transferred for further analysis, editing, and report generation in FlexReports PC software.
