Power level, link length, loss and return loss in seconds
Link length, loss and return loss are key parameters when assessing an optical network. Within seconds of pressing Start, the FlexScan TS100 measures and displays the distance, loss and return loss of a point-to-point network or up to the first splitter in FTTH PON networks. In addition, on live PON networks, the TS100 also measures the incoming transmission power levels. The resulting power-level, link-length, loss and return-loss values can be compared against pass/fail thresholds for instant problem identification. By touching an event highlighted in red, the technician gets instant information on the reason it failed and a suggestion for corrective action.
Locating and identifying problems – suggested corrective actions
The TS100 automatically detects network events such as connectors, splices, splitters and macrobends. It displays them using colour-coded, easy-to-interpret LinkMap® icons, instantly identifying the problem that needs attention. Touching any event icon returns information about its status (good/bad), location, loss, reflectance and recommended corrective actions. For more information about an event, simply touch the parameter that fails to meet the requirements and has been flagged as bad.
Connectivity
Results can be stored in the device’s memory, saved to USB or transferred wirelessly via the free FlexScan App for real-time reporting using the included TRM® 3.0 results-management and automatic report-generation software.
The FlexScan TS100 also connects seamlessly with the award-winning FOCIS® inspection probes for fast, easy single- and multi-fiber connector inspection available at the press of a button. Inspection results can be stored in the TS100’s memory or exported for archiving.
Optional power meter for GPON, Video, 10GPON
The FlexScan TS100 is available with a meter for the transmission power delivered to the subscriber (option P2), letting users instantly and independently verify transmission at 1490 nm (GPON), 1550 nm (video) or 1577 nm (10GPON, XG/XGS-PON or 10GEPON).
The TS100 is also equipped with a light source (OLS) and power meter (OPM) supporting tone generation used for fiber identification and loss measurements using Wave ID technology. With Wave ID, the power meter automatically synchronises with another FlexScan device or AFL light source. The meter measures at one or many wavelengths, automatically switching to the correct wavelength. This saves a lot of time and eliminates the chance of error.
