The AHT-128 is a scalable, programmable PC-based cable harness tester. The device not only measures resistance but also identifies opens, shorts, crossed wires, mis-wires and pin-to-pin continuity. All results are logged and transferred to a PC for archiving and reporting.

Thanks to its PC-based architecture, all the computing load, the interface and the database reside on an external Windows computer. This provides unlimited storage for cable patterns and production logs, easy integration with ERP/MES systems, and no technological obsolescence of the measurement unit itself.

Auto-learn — automatic harness mapping

The Auto-learn function eliminates hours of manual netlist entry. Simply connect a verified reference harness (Golden Sample) and the software automatically scans every contact, maps the resistance network and stores a digital pattern in the database — in just a few seconds. No advanced training is required.

Intermittent fault detection (Intermittent Faults)

Traditional static testers miss intermittent faults — opens that appear only under vibration or when the harness is flexed. The AHT-128 samples every port every 200 ms in continuous mode, allowing the operator to physically manipulate and flex the harness during the running test. The system instantly captures and latches even microsecond opens in the circuit, preventing a defective product from being shipped to the customer.

Resistance measurement — metrological precision

The AHT-128 measures resistance automatically and reports a non-conformity when the value falls outside the configured upper and lower thresholds. The ±0.1 Ω accuracy detects contact oxidation and poor crimps that a cheap continuity-only tester would miss entirely.

Detection of opens, shorts and mis-wires

The AHT-128 precisely identifies and locates various types of defects. The software not only reports a FAIL but pinpoints the specific pin and harness end — repair time drops from minutes to seconds.

  • Opens (Open Circuit) — with harness-end location
  • Shorts (Short Circuit) — indication of the specific pin
  • Mis-wires (Mis-Wires) — detection and location
  • Crossed wires (Crossed Wires) in complex bundles
  • Pass/Fail result with identification of the faulty connection

Cable Harness Tester Manager software

The CHT Manager software controls one or several cascaded AHT-128 units. It enables harness configurations to be defined by editing a table, importing from CSV/Excel, or automatic learning from a reference harness.
