ALBEDO GPON Doctor 4k7 is a portable, passive carrier-grade GPON protocol analyzer. Once connected to any point of the distribution fiber of a GPON network, it captures data at the bit level simultaneously in the downstream and upstream directions and interprets all control information at the PLOAM and OMCI levels. The device is chipset-less — it uses its own acquisition hardware, independent of any manufacturer, so the analysis result is neutral and does not depend on the OLT or ONT implementation. A PON power meter measures the optical layer (the signal power level at a point in the network). GPON Doctor 4k7 works at the protocol layer – it decodes PLOAM/OMCI frames, tracks ONT registration, bandwidth allocation and service configuration. It lets you determine why a service is not working, not just whether the optical signal arrives.
