ToupTek PLM100 – Polarized Light Microscope System (Birefringence, Stress)

ToupTek PLM100 is a polarized light microscope system for examining anisotropic materials – both transparent and opaque. Substances exhibiting birefringence are clearly distinguishable under polarization, often without staining, making it indispensable in the analysis of minerals, crystals, and stress distribution.

What is a polarized light microscope?

The polarizer converts light into linearly polarized light; in a birefringent material the beam splits into two components with different velocities (optical path difference), and the orthogonal analyzer generates an interference image revealing anisotropy and stress. This is the technique of choice in geology, crystallography, and stress inspection.

Key features

  • Polarizer + analyzer (orthogonal) – birefringence contrast
  • POL objectives 2.5×–50× (std 60 mm / long-WD 95 mm)
  • 1× imaging path (200 mm tube), 25 mm image circle
  • Camera interface C / M42 / M52
  • Köhler illumination, 10 W LED; retardation plate set (option)
  • Rotating stage (option), M26×0.705 thread
