NORIA is a device for manufacturing Fiber Bragg Gratings with the ability to vary the grating period.
NORIA is a tool for manufacturing Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs). A UV laser (Coherent Excistar XS 500Hz—ArF) and a phase mask (Ibsen Photonics) are used to transfer a periodic structure into the photosensitive core of the optical fiber. The device features a revolver head that allows the period to be changed.

NORIA enables flexible selection of parameters, allowing the grating properties to be tailored, for example during the design of new sensors. Parameters such as central wavelength, FWHM, SLSR or reflectivity can be easily optimized. Moreover, NORIA guarantees high repeatability of the fabricated gratings. The capabilities of this device support the development of this technology. Fiber Bragg Gratings have been recognized as components for the least invasive medical examinations, enabling highly accurate measurements.
