The LIOS EN.SURE power cable DTS system is a fiber optic temperature measurement system designed to monitor underground power cables and overhead transmission lines. Using an optical fiber embedded in the power cable or installed externally, the LIOS EN.SURE system can continuously monitor and predict the load of the power cable and the cable core temperature over individual sections up to 40 km long per system.

The EN.SURE power cable DTS system provides a continuous temperature profile along the entire length of the sensing cable with a resolution better than 1°C, offering excellent hotspot detection on underground T&D power cables and overhead transmission lines over distances up to 40 km. This distance can be extended to 70 km by selecting our unique long-range EN.SURE DTS system.

By combining the EN.SURE system with our best-in-class RTTR software, the DTS system can calculate the cable core temperature in real time to predict the cable load (Real-Time Thermal Rating), thereby enabling the operator to run the cable above its nominal capacity in emergency situations.
