The FITEL S184 series has all the advantages and solutions available in the S183 model, and additionally extends them to an outer fiber diameter range reaching up to 1200 microns. This is made possible by the three-electrode “Ring Of Fire” discharge technology, which generates an exceptionally wide plasma field. Importantly, ion migration occurs directly between the electrodes, so the splice point remains free from potential contamination!

The advanced positioning system allows for easy and automatic adjustment of the v-groove position, so that the spliced fibers lie axially with respect to each other, regardless of the difference in outer diameters. Both v-grooves can move in the X and Y planes.

Both the FITEL S183 and S184 feature a system for automatically opening the fiber holder after splicing is complete, regardless of the holder position (its degree of rotation). This seemingly obvious functionality is available only in Furukawa FITEL splicers.

Advanced image recognition and analysis algorithms enable automatic alignment of the most popular types of polarization-maintaining fibers. It is also possible to set a desired offset of the polarization planes relative to each other.
