The BOA amplifier (Booster Optical Amplifier) from Innolume is a power amplifier designed to work with strong input signals (typically around 10 dBm). Based on proprietary quantum-dot technology in the O-band, it offers a high output power exceeding 550 mW in selected models and a high saturation power up to 23 dBm across the 1060–1310 nm range.
The BOA power amplifier is a variant of the semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) optimized to amplify strong input signals and deliver high output power. Innolume quantum-dot BOA amplifiers in the O-band stand out with high output power (selected models over 550 mW), high saturation power (up to 23 dBm) and a broad gain bandwidth covering a significant part of the O-band spectrum. Feedback suppression is achieved through an angled waveguide and anti-reflection coatings (<0.001% reflection), which ensures stable operation and minimizes spectral ripple. They are available in submount and fiber-coupled versions.
High gain: small-signal gain over 40 dB in selected models.
High output power: over 400 mW (fiber-coupled) and up to 600 mW (on submount).
High saturation power: up to 22–23 dBm, ensuring operation under high-power conditions.
Broad gain bandwidth: O-band amplifiers with a bandwidth exceeding 70 nm.
Feedback suppression: angled waveguide and anti-reflection coatings (<0.001% reflection).
Integration flexibility: available on a submount, as a fiber-coupled module or as a bare die.
Configuration: adjustment of wavelength, spectral width and output power to customer requirements.
