The main cause of poor cleave angles is torsional stress in the fiber, induced by the torque of conventional clamps. This new, patented process employs a completely torque-free clamping system that uses a proprietary metal alloy ingot which melts at a temperature below the boiling point of water. It is a lead-free, cadmium-free molten ingot specially developed so that, once cooled, it densely solidifies around the fiber, providing torque-free clamping even of non-round fibers such as an octagon shape. The solid-state temperature control system rapidly liquefies and hardens the alloy as needed. When the alloy ingot becomes depleted through use, it can be easily replaced.
