AFL CLETOP ACT are cleaning sticks for fiber-optic connectors inside adapters and alignment sleeves. AFL CLETOP ACT (Adapter Cleaning Sticks) is a simple and efficient way to clean fiber-optic connectors inside adapters and alignment sleeves. CLETOP sticks are available in sizes for most common commercial connectors (ST, SC, FC, LC, MU), military connectors, and LEMO connectors used in video applications. When connectors must be cleaned inside an adapter – without unmating them – CLETOP sticks are a reliable solution.

Effective cleaning inside adapters

CLETOP ACT sticks clean the ferrule end-faces inside plug connectors and adapters, as well as alignment sleeves. They are easy to use, compact, and disposable, while delivering a consistently high level of effectiveness – crucial where the ferrule is not accessible for direct cleaning. They perform well in laboratory work, on assembly lines, and in the field.

Recommended cleaning procedure

1. Insertion – slide the stick straight into the alignment sleeve. 2. Pressure – apply appropriate force (approx. 600–700 g) so that the ferrule is pressed slightly into the sleeve. 3. Rotation – rotate the stick 4–5 times clockwise, keeping contact with the ferrule end-face. Effectiveness can be increased by using AFL FCC2 cleaning fluid.

Why clean connectors

Contaminated connectors account for a significant share of fiber-optic network failures – they attenuate the signal and increase the bit error rate. Regular cleaning extends connector life, reduces the cost of replacements and service call-outs, and maximizes network performance.

Applications: AFL CLETOP ACT cleaning sticks are used to clean fiber-optic connector end-faces inside adapters, bulkhead receptacles, and alignment sleeves, where cassette tools cannot reach. Available in versions matched to 1.25 mm (LC, MU) and 2.5 mm (SC, FC, ST) connectors, as well as LEMO connectors. The tip effectively removes dust and contamination from the ferrule, restoring a clean, repeatable connection.

Advantages: Cleaning connectors “from the receptacle side” is just as important as cleaning patch cords — a contaminated ferrule on the panel side transfers dirt to every cable that is plugged in.
