The QuantX Distributed Acoustic Sensing Interrogator delivers long-range quantitative data performance with high fidelity and sensitivity, providing top-tier interrogator systems for all kinds of distributed fiber optic sensing applications.
QuantX from OptaSense (Luna Innovations group) is a quantitative-grade distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) interrogator that turns standard single-mode fiber into tens of thousands of virtual vibration and strain sensors. In long-range mode it captures full quantitative phase and amplitude data over a span of up to 100 km — without amplifiers or special cables — making it one of the longest-reaching systems in its class on the market.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Parameter | Value |
| Measurement range | up to 100 km on standard single-mode fiber (operation on cables up to 200 km long) |
| Number of channels | up to 50,000 measurement channels in 100 km mode |
| Channel spacing | every 1 m (every 2 m in 100 km mode) |
| Data type | quantitative phase and amplitude (Quantitative DAS), linear response to vibration |
| Measurement bandwidth | flat frequency response from 0 Hz (DC) to half the sampling frequency (Nyquist) |
| Data recording | 100% of data recorded in real time (SSD/RAID), stream up to 3.2 Gb/s |
| Time synchronization | GPS |
| Sensing fiber | standard single-mode, with no additional components in the path |
First-generation DAS systems provided qualitative information that “something is happening at this location.” QuantX belongs to the quantitative generation (QDAS): it measures signal phase and amplitude with a linear response to the actual vibration and strain of the fiber, including the quasi-static range from 0 Hz. As a result, the data is suitable not only for event detection and classification, but also for engineering and seismic analyses — from interferometry to ground strain measurements. The adjustable gauge length allows the system to be matched to the parameters of an already-laid cable, so deployment often makes use of existing telecommunications infrastructure.
