A single-axis FBG-based tilt/inclination sensor, specifically designed to measure long-term angular changes on large structures.
Somni firmly believes that fiber-optic-based sensors can make a difference. The fiber-optic sensing technology used by Somni is corrosion-free, features long-term stability and enables continuous monitoring. Moreover, it is immune to electromagnetic interference, avoiding unwanted noise, while also having very low signal transmission losses, allowing for remote monitoring. The number of potential failure modes inside the sensor is reduced to an absolute minimum thanks to the sensor’s long-term reliability. Incorporating additional redundancy in the sensor system ensures a very low rate of failure or loss of monitoring data.
The TI 500 T sensor by Somni Solutions is used to monitor small changes in deflection (tilt) angles with high accuracy and stability. This sensor is particularly suitable for monitoring large structures and objects such as bridges. The TI 500 T tilt sensor is one of a kind, with high sensitivity per unit of angular deviation and a total measurement range of 10 degrees. The internal temperature compensation mechanism allows very small angle changes of 0.002 degrees to be observed.
