The comb laser from Innolume operates as a multi-channel DWDM source, generating a precisely equidistant set of spectral lines, i.e. a frequency comb. Based on quantum-dot (QD) technology, the laser operates in the O-band (1300–1310 nm), taking advantage of the minimal chromatic dispersion of this range for high-speed optical transmission. The saturable absorber section provides strong mode phase locking and pulse-free operation, and the ultra-low RIN noise below -130 dB/Hz guarantees the stability of each channel.
A comb laser generates multiple coherent wavelengths spaced by a constant frequency, forming a frequency comb. The quantum-dot (QD) Innolume comb laser is optimized for multi-channel data transmission in the O-band, where low chromatic dispersion limits signal degradation. Unlike classic mode-locked lasers, the device uses a saturable absorber section for enhanced mode phase locking, enabling operation without generating pulses. The result is a narrow beat linewidth and uniform, stable channel spacing.
Multi-wavelength O-band emission: multi-channel light source in the 1300–1310 nm band.
Equidistant channels: precisely constant spacing between modes (mode spacing 25–100 GHz).
Mode phase locking: frequency-modulated mode locking, pulse-free operation.
Ultra-low RIN: relative intensity noise < -130 dB/Hz per channel (averaged 0–10 GHz).
Two package forms: chip-on-carrier (on a submount) and a fiber-coupled version with a built-in optical isolator.
The family includes variants with different mode spacing and channel counts: 25 GHz (up to 37 channels), 50 GHz (22 channels), 80 GHz (10 channels) and 100 GHz (18 channels), in a chip-on-carrier (CoC) or PM fiber-coupled form. For optimal operation and thermal stability, comb lasers can work with a dedicated driver and TEC controller.

Innolume comb lasers are B2B products configured individually – the mode spacing (25–100 GHz), number of channels, package form (chip-on-carrier or fiber-coupled with an isolator) and the accompanying driver with TEC controller are determined for a specific application.
